Concha Jerez and Ramón Mateos in El País Semanal

September 3, 2021

El País Semanal has published the report, entitled Art reemerges and seeks a balance between commercial success and social debates, on the occasion of the 12th edition of APERTURA Madrid Gallery Weekend. It features our artist Concha Jerez, whose solo exhibition Measurements of Time will open at Freijo Gallery on Thursday, September 9, together with Ramón Mateos, artist and director of the LZ46 programme at Freijo Gallery.

"The presence in this project of Jerez, winner of the National Plastic Arts Award 2015 and Velázquez Award 2017, is not trivial. Although the grand dame of Spanish site-specific art has been working in spaces, institutions and museums all over the world since the 1970s, she has not exhibited in a private gallery in Madrid since 1988. Now, several video pieces arising from performances and interventions from different periods will coexist with specific works at Freijo Gallery, founded in 2010. "The gallery has always worked with authors who are very involved with their time", explains the artist and manager Ramón Mateos".
