Exhibition "Marcelo Brodsky. Poetic Resistance" | Foto Colectania, Barcelona

January 31, 2023

Tomorrow Wednesday, February 1st at 7 p.m. opens the exhibition "Marcelo Brodsky. Poetic Resistance" at Foto Colectania Foundation, thanks to the main collaboration of the Banco Sabadell Foundation. The exhibition, curated by Irene de Mendoza, can be seen until May 28.

The exhibit brings together some of his best-known series. It begins with a selection of five photographs taken during his exile at the end of the 1970s in Barcelona and a section dedicated to his project Buena Memoria (Good Memory), in which he investigates how Argentina's dictatorship affected his former schoolmates. This work would become one of the starting points for the intervention in photographs using text and colour, a technique he applies in his later projects.

Other series on display include his emblematic 1968. The Fire of Ideas, which depicts the unleashing of the 1968 world demonstrations, the photographs of the fight against Francoism and Apartheid in South Africa (the latter a collaborative project with the photographer Gideon Mendel), the impressive Traces of Violence, which shows history's first genocide through the colonialist photographs of the German Empire in present-day Namibia and, finally, Colombia. National Strike on the 2021 uprisings in Colombia.
