Handful of years ago - as many as 16- José Iges (Madrid, 1951) began  his cycle Dedicatorias he did not realize then the consequences and resonances that his collection had in the public. Miniatures dedicated to glossing / honoring the multiple personalities with whom the composer and artist from Madrid has crossed in his long career. Certainly the works of Iges, many of them produced by  Freijo Gallery, have all been very autobiographical.
The exhibition focuses on a set of works carried out alone during the last two decades. "My work has arisen all of it in a disorderly manner, I have always enjoyed a greater degree of freedom bether than many other colleagues. I like working with old materials, I look for them in all that complex and ungraspable subject of identity, how we reflect on them. And, well, I've always had an interest in physical media, "says José Iges.
And although the exhibition is an important point in the career of Iges, it is "far" to close any chapter "Rather I would say that opens, opens me, new ways of exploration. I work very slowly and find it hard to see how I embody ideas. So after specifying Self-portraits I can say that I have other thoughts, other threads to throw away ... "recognizes Iges

The Contemporary Creation Center of Andalusia (C3A), based in Córdoba, inaugurates on June 21 the solo exhibition Self-portraits, which can be visited until January 5, 2020 and which will be curated by Alicia Murria.
