Opening Águeda de la Pisa in Cuenca

June 28, 2025

The exhibition ‘Desde un posible cielo’ by Águeda de la Pisa, curated by Alfonso De la Torre, opens next Monday 30 June, at 19h, at the Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Cuenca.

This exhibition brings together a large part of the artist's graphic production. The artist's prints began, almost declaratively, with an etching made in 1978 in collaboration with Antonio Lorenzo, with the help of Munir and Enrique Maté, intaglio masters of that generation. Meanwhile, the remaining corpus of her work with prints is divided between two major workshops, the ‘Mayor 28’ workshop (the period from 1991 to 1999) and her ongoing collaboration and research with the aforementioned Maté.

Although most of her work has been done using intaglio techniques, it should be emphasised that an essential feature of her work in the world of engraving has been her research into the forms of printing, which has taken her on a journey from that traditional beginning in etching and aquatint, to digital graphics using digital prints, and even to the exercise of hybridisation. Trials and enquiries that could be described as graphic imaginations, eloquent and poetic imaginative trials, since, along with her love of intaglio, she has also tried screen printing, lithography and avant-lettre, along with the creation of collages and chine collés of intaglio printing on aquatint, while she has also undertaken works in which the world of intaglio printing has met with the new digital printing techniques.
