Mar Solis in Centro Niemeyer
October 8, 2025
The exhibition ‘Art and Spirituality. Imagining the Extraordinary in the BBVA Collection’ opens at the Niemeyer Centre in Avilés, featuring works by artist Mar Solís.
The exhibition, curated by Alfonso De la Torre, will be displayed in Avilés after visiting Madrid and Barcelona. It is a collective exhibition featuring 46 works by 43 artists, proposing a dialogue between ancient and contemporary works of art from the BBVA Collection. The exhibition is based on the concept of spirituality and portrays the reflection that artists have explored through resources such as religion, philosophy, light, emptiness, silence, metaphor and symbolism. It includes two works by the artist Mar Solís: ‘Introspection and Fugue: Auriga’ and ‘Light Horizon’, both wooden sculptures that explore emptiness and the limits of the symbolic, mysticism and religion.
The exhibition will open on 10 October 2025 at 6 p.m. at the Niemeyer Centre in Avilés (Av. del Zinc, s/n, 33490, Avilés, Asturias), and will be open to the public until 1 March 2026.
