Freijo Gallery will participate in ARCOmadrid 2024 with two projects: a Duo Project by Elena Asins and Ode Bertrand, curated by Marie Sophie Lemoine, and a Solo Project by Concha Jerez, entitled Broken Utopias.

The Duo Project’s starting point is the work of Elena Asins and Ode Bertrand, who, despite not having met during their lifetime, work with similar languages, abstract geometry, and share a concern for the notions of order and structure. Black and white colors impregnate their work, either by translating the binary computer language or through the search for the purest expression, in their pursuit of a universal structure and language. As part of the internationalisation project of Elena Asins' work undertaken by the Freijo Gallery in 2024, her work will be presented for the first time in dialogue with that of the French artist Ode Bertrand, curated by Marie Sophie Lemoine.

As for the Solo Project, it is based on the interest that the artist Concha Jerez has shown in the concepts of utopia and broken utopias since the 1990s. Jerez remains faithful to her critical discourse of reality, unmasking at every moment those dorsal, though often camouflaged, aspects of contemporary society. The project stems from the InterMedia Installation entitled "WALKING THROUGH INTERFERENCES BEYOND BROKEN UTOPIAS" made at ESC (Graz) in 1994, where the concept of unfulfilled utopias, broken utopias, is so present, as well as the concept of media interference.
