Gardens of a lifetime

Eloisa Sanz's exhibition is the first one at Freijo Gallery, hosted within the alternative programme LZ46.
Under the title Gardens of a lifetime Eloisa opens up windows to the imagination, with unstructured formats, creating sets of planes, taking us to a world that presents nature fighting against cities.
This ecological message has been analysed for years by critics of the contemporary Spanish scene, such as José María Parreño:
"Throughout her career, many of the fundamental features of her style remain intact: the splintered and irregular pictorial plane, collages covered with paint until they become invisible. Her characteristic choice of colours and the forced and impossible perspectives along with the reiterated and almost asphyxiating presence of vegetation, with a presence of cities: the regularity of the human work, the panel of the windows and the coldness of the architecture".
Or as Fernando Huici points out about her work:
"The argument on which Eloisa Sanz's painting is essentially built, always revolves around a complex interrelation between different modes or levels of representation and the problematisation of space. She raises awareness of our environment and nature, by means of imaginative pictorial fragments with real and organic elements such as branches, leaves, lichen, roots, etc., and the use of recycled objects, giving them a different place and meaning without losing their essence of waste in the face of a consumer society".
