Being Exposed II

Being exposed II is the third chapter of Zoos at War, a research project Rocío Garriga has been working on for years. The project explores various episodes related to zoos in wartime contexts. The first two chapters were presented at Freijo Gallery: in 2018, The Mirror Rule, which delved into the Warsaw Zoo, and in 2021, The Double Image, which focused on the London Zoo.

In 2026, in the city of Valencia, this third chapter was unveiled for the first time at the Centre del Carme de Cultura Contemporània (CCCC). This exhibition focused on the bombing of the Hamburg Zoo during World War II. The research, along with the artwork created for this exhibition, will be on view in Madrid at Freijo Gallery from November 13, 2026, to January 9, 2027.

Through the relationship between human and animal bodies, Garriga reflects on our shared fragility and the bonds we form with others and with our environment.
