Mouliaá from Vandrés to Freijo (1972-2019)

Joaquín Mouliaá

from November 23, 2019 to January 3, 2020

Born in Madrid, Spain in 1944. He is an artist who uses painting as a means of artistic expression. In this exhibition we present work from various periods, some of his first exhibition at the emblematic Vandrés Gallery in 1971 (where he would exhibit again in 1976 and 1979). With the main purpose of recovering memory, Freijo Gallery presents this selection of works, together with some documents, catalogues, the poster of the Venice Biennale, press articles, photographs and other materials, which come from the artist's personal archive and from the archive of Vandrés, currently in the Freijo Gallery.

Different artworks will be shown, from the emblematic works from 1990 to the most recent works exhibited last year at the Suñol Foundation, in the exhibition "Homage to Vijande", curated by the artist Jose Luis Alexanco, who said he was struck by the joy and optimism he saw in the artist's latest works. It is a series of abstract and geometric works, made in vivid tonalities.

Mouliaá communicates with the spectator through his work. Through painting he manages to find emotional balance, peace and happiness. He has developed a solo career, sometimes so distant and absent that this exhibition represets for him a  new event, a somewhat strange phenomenon. Unusual.
