He lives and works between Collioure and Barcelona.
He studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Barcelona, philosophy at the University of Barcelona and design at the EINA School. In 1970, with 20 years, his first individual exhibition took place. He collaborated, as a screenwriter and actor in the movie Serenata in the moonlight (Salgot and Jové, 1978), as art director in Contes de la veritat oculta (C. Benpar, 1986) and as the protagonist in Es quan dormo que hi veig clar (J. Cadena, 1987).
In January 1995 in New York, he founded together with artist Steven Pollack, the sporadic association in active Vodoo Victims. In 1998, he directed and performed the scenography of the play El bell lloc by Joan Brossa, premiered at the Espai Brossa in Barcelona. That same year, he published El mundo del rhyth (edited by Tabelaria + Antojos), in collaboration with Eduardo Mendoza and acted as protagonist in the video Pianito, by Jordi Colomer. And in 1999 he founded Mic y Mau, with photographer Luis Ros.
In 2002 he wrote and published the screenplay for the movie Here on Earth as in hell. In December 2004, he published his first textbook Garabatos y zarpazos, edited by the University of Barcelona, in the Les arts i els artistes collection and of which the 2nd edition was held in 2007. That same year he also published Total Fidelity, in collaboration with Ramón from Spain, edited by Raiña Lupa. And in 2008 Diodrama, with texts by Eduardo Lago, edited by Atelier Clot de Paris.
In 2007 his first retrospective Do not tell me anything at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona (MACBA) and at the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum (MNCARS). For his retrospective exhibition he made the film Mnemocine. Cut-out film, an audiovisual collage consisting of 11 episodes, lasting 26 minutes.In 2004 he received the National Prize of Plastic Arts of Spain. In 2008 he was awarded the National Visual Arts Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya for the exhibition Do not tell me anything, presented at the MACBA and the MNCARS and that reflects the consolidated and unclassifiable trajectory of more than thirty years of the artist investigating the environment of the identity and the poetics of the object.
